Call me crazy (glutton for punishment?), but I’m doing it anyway

I decided about two weeks ago I was going to do another triathlon.

I did my first tri last September and wrote about in a previous blog post

.

This year I’ve decided to crank up the challenge factor and do the Olympic distance triathlon.

That’s 1600 yards of open water swimming, 31 miles on the bike, then finishing with a 7 mile trail run.

Yikes!

Why? Because I can.

Or, at least I think I can...and what’s more...I need the challenge.

I NEED the challenge.

You see, I’m the type of person that, if I don’t have some kind of big and scary goal, I let my fitness level slack off. I get lackadaisical.

So, I’m scaring the snot out of myself…

Yes, I’ve been training a little...but I should have started training about three months before the event!

Call me crazy, but I’m doing it anyway.

My goals: 1. Finish 2. Have fun.

It’s difficult to turn off my competitive nature and not think about “winning.”

But truly, in this kind of endeavor, I’m really only competing against myself.

I know there will be moments I’ll want to quit. I know my body will be screaming, “What the hell are you doing?!” I know it’s going to be tough.

But one of the things I’ve been (re) learning, is that actual competition isn’t really against the “competition” - it’s about competing to improve yourself every day.

Overcoming our tendencies to take short cuts, take the easy way out, or cut corners.

So, what is it you’re doing to challenge yourself?

Seriously, what is it you’re doing to challenge yourself?

Whether personally, in business, or physically? I’d like to know.

Why?

Because it’ll help me face my own challenges. Hearning from you will help me improve.

And, want to know a secret? If you voice your own challenges, it will help you too!

So, hit me up and let me know.

I know some of you won’t do this. And, that’s OK.

But those of you who do? You’ll be doing something that will, in real time, move you further down the road of overcoming the BIGGEST challenge in your life and business: YOU.

So, hit me up.
